Dental Health Week 2021: Keep Your Smile for Life | Casula Dental Care

by | Aug 1, 2021 | Dental Health Week 2021

Dental Health Week is from 2 to 8 August.

The 2021 DHW campaign focuses on the importance of caring for your teeth and gums to help you to keep your smile for life.

Dental Health Week: Four Key Messages

The ADA’s main oral health messages and the four key messages of the 2021 Dental Health Week campaign aim to reinforce the importance of maintaining good oral health to keep your teeth for life:

Brush teeth at least two times a day for two minutes each time. Proper brushing will keep your mouth clean without causing irritation from overbrushing. Also, be sure to replace your toothbrush every three months or sooner if your bristles are worn or frayed, or your toothbrush is stained or smelling.

Clean between your teeth every day with floss or interdental brushes. At Casula Dental Care, we remind our patients that it is critical to floss on a daily basis.

Floss daily to remove food debris and plaque from between your teeth. If not removed, you can develop gum disease, which is uncomfortable and dangerous to your oral and general health.

Gum disease occurs when plaque forms underneath the gumline, and not flossing can lead to this.

Maintain a healthy, balanced diet and limit added sugar consumption. Your choice of food affects your oral health. Our mouths receive nutrients from our daily diet. It’s crucial to eat healthy.

Sweet snacks are fine from time to time, but be sure to rinse them down with water to remove any residue until you can brush.

Don’t forget natural teeth cleaners such as carrots and apples. They’re perfect, portable snacks!

Visit your Casula dentist for check-ups and preventive dental care. Schedule your six-monthly appointments. It’s important to have a professional dental clean and check to make sure there isn’t any build-up and decay. Detecting dental issues early can save you a lot of pain and money.
